Improving Self Confidence

Your self-confidence and esteem are what make you who you are. If you had more or less, then you could be an entirely different person. And confidence affects every area of your life: dating, work, interviews, parties, speaking to a group of people, standing up for yourself, joining new groups or starting a hobby. Thus, it is important that you develop your confidence to the level you want it to be at. We’ve got some tips on how!

1. Realise your strengths.

You have them! You have lots. However big or small, make a list of everything that you’re good at. When you realise how may skills you have, you confidence will already be boosted! Stick that list of strengths somewhere where you can look at it every day.

2. Embrace your weaknesses.

Everyone has weaknesses. Work out what yours are. Some are not necessarily weaknesses. Being quiet, shy, emotive or sensitive are very positive qualities to some degree and can be very endearing in the right circumstances.

3. List what you want to change.

We all want to improve certain aspects of our lives. Work out what you want to change on every scale. You can start work on some changes instantly – like finding a dance class to join, or trying talking to people more. Other aspects might take longer to improve, such as earning more money or becoming successful in your dream career. For these, work out small steps that you can follow each day to work towards your goal.

4. Take positive steps.

Do something every day which works towards one or more of your goals. You’ll feel productive and know that you are working on improving yourself!

5. Remind yourself regularly.

Keep stock of all these tips. Regularly recap on your strengths, weaknesses and goals. By staying focussed, you will ensure that you achieve!

6. Celebrate your accomplishments.

You will start to complete your goals and it will feel great! Celebrate! Tell your close friends, and revel in the glory of achieving something. It’ll spur you on to realize more of your dreams.

7. Set yourself more targets!

Rinse and repeat! Just keep on going with setting yourself more and more targets. Your confidence will soar, and you will become the person you want to be!
