We all know that building up your self esteem is easier said than done. To start with, your confidence might be low because you may have had something to knock it down. It can take a lot of hard work to begin feeling confident, and then it only takes the smallest thing to knock you right back down. Rather than putting together the same old advice about positive thinking and goal setting, we’ve decided to help you with some practical tricks that really work! Read on!
Self Confidence Building Trick # 1: Exercise and eat healthily.
If you keep up regular exercise, your endorphins will be racing round your body making you feel good. Plus, if you’re feeling fitter, you’re probably looking fitter too!
Self Confidence Building Trick # 2: Practice good posture.
Standing up straight and sitting up straight can work a small miracle. At work or college it’ll make you look more interested in what you’re doing, and exudes confidence.
Self Confidence Building Trick # 3: Get interested in stuff.
Instead of moping about thinking about how you’ve not got the perfect job or relationship, or how you wish you were rich, get involved and interested in something. It might be a book, or music, a new hobby. Anything! Read a newspaper every day, cook fresh food, learn a language. Fill your time!
Self Confidence Building Trick # 4: Realise the positives of being quiet.
If everyone was meant to be loud and brash, the world would be an uncomfortable place. Being a bit more shy shows that you are sensitive and thoughtful. Often loud people can come across as obnoxious, and you certainly don’t want that.
Self Confidence Building Trick # 5: Get used to being yourself.
Think of your good points – things you’re good at and personality traits you have which are positive. And then think of the negative ones. Accept them. Make the best out of them. Appreciate who you are, and work with it!
