Dating should be simple. You fancy each other, you enjoy each others company, and then a loving relationship blossoms. But in reality, things are rarely that simple. As people, we place importance on different things and when you first start dating someone new, you might not know what they find a turn on or turn off. Thus, we have created the ultimate guide on first date etiquette!
1. Take your role.
Be gentlemanly if you’re a guy, and be ladylike if you’re a girl. Men should hold doors for women, and drive on the first date too.
2. Absolutely no dirty habits.
Avoid any scratching, picking, chewing, burping, farting, spitting, talking whilst eating, and so on. You know the drill – it’s just NOT attractive!
3. Don’t swear.
Some people are vehemently against swearing, and it can give the wrong impression about you, so simply avoid it and you’ll be OK.
4. No snooping.
Don’t ask too many questions about personal topics. These include, but are not limited to, past relationships, illnesses, religion, political beliefs and financial issues.
5. Don’t get drunk.
Again, it’s not attractive. Limit yourself to a couple of drinks. You know how much you can handle, and let’s be honest, your crush might not really want a second date after seeing you moon the waiter and dance the Macarena on table tops.
6. Take it slow.
Don’t even think about having sex, asking for it, or offering it. Save it for when you get to know each other a bit better and when you are sure you are ready for a sexual commitment.
