It can be tough choosing the perfect outfit for your first date. But if you bear in mind our tips, then you will be sure to look great and feel confident as you know what to wear on a first date!

1. Know where you’re going. If you’re going to a restaurant, you might like to dress smarter than if you were going to the cinema, for example. If you know in advance which restaurant you are going to, check their website for any dress code and to get a feeling of what might be appropriate to wear. You can check out some creative first date ideas here.

2. Be comfortable. Make sure you can walk comfortably in your shoes. You may have to walk a short way, so wearing that new pair of stilettos might not be a great idea. Wear a pair of shoes you know you won’t trip or stumble in. If you’re comfortable in your clothes, you’ll be confident.

3. Less is more. Don’t show off too much. Wearing a tiny mini skirt and showing a lot of cleavage can put off many men, and also send out the wrong impression. Instead, try a V-neck or fitted shirt, with a knee length skirt. Accentuate your good points, but don’t put them out there on show for everyone!

4. Bear you date in mind. Think about how your date dresses. If he is usually in a suit, you will look underdressed in jeans and a shirt. Likewise, if he’s more casually dressed, then you won’t want to arrive wearing a ball gown. You’ll feel uncomfortable, which will make you more nervous.

5. Use accessories. Keep your outfit relatively simple so that you’re confident and look good, but jazz it up and show your personality with your favourite accessories. Maybe a brightly coloured bag, scarf or statement jewellery. Remember: every piece of jewellery tells a story!

6. Keep it natural. Don’t go overboard on make up or hairstyles. Keep to what you know. Research shows that guys much prefer to date a girl who wears a little blush combined with lip gloss and mascara, compared to thick make up which disguises how you really look. Have a look at these confidence building solutions.

7. Always wear your best smile! It will show you’re confident, positive and interested in your date!

It can be very disappointing if a date you’ve been looking forward to gets cancelled. When a guy cancels your first date, you’ll probably wonder why, and if he’ll reschedule it. It really depends on the specific situation so try not to be too upset, and consider the following:

1. Important things do come up, and plans sometimes have to change. He is probably just as disappointed as you are that he has had to cancel it.

2. He might feel that he has let you down, so try not to be angry with him. Give him another chance if you still want to date him.

3. If he has stood you up, bear in mind that there could be a reason for it. Perhaps there was a family emergency, or his car broke down. Give him the chance to explain himself, and if you still want to date him, rearrange that first date!

4. Don’t be upset if a guy cancels your first date for no apparent reason. He might be very shy, or have a personal issue which he’s not ready to discuss with you.

5. Don’t get hung up on a guy that repeatedly cancels your dates. You deserve to know where you stand. If you have a hunch that something is up, then just politely tell him that you are no longer interested in dating him.

6. If he’s decided that for some reason he doesn’t want to date you, it’s better that you find out now, rather than in a few weeks or months when you’ve grown more fond of him. Dating is supposed to be fun, so pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on!

When it comes to online dating, there is a wealth of dating sites out there to keep you at your computer looking for the ideal date. But what do you really need to know about totally free internet dating sites? Are they safe to use? Do they have a high success rate? We take a look behind the scenes at what really goes on at several totally free internet dating sites.

Problem #1: Who Is Using It?

Some people use totally free internet dating sites to find love or marriage. Others search for friendship. Others want casual sex. Some people use totally free internet dating sites to post stupid or abusive messages, or just to kill their own long and boring hours. Whereas you are genuinely looking for a date and a partner. Don’t waste your time reading these many adverts. It might cost more to sign up to a proper dating website, but at least you know everyone there is genuine!

Problem #2: It’s Free, So Anyone Else Can Use It!

Some totally free internet dating sites just mean that you could be wasting your time and effort. Many free singles dating sites have a lot of traffic and many people making posts constantly. But when you look at these sites over the weeks and months, you realise that it is often the same people making the same posts. Nothing comes for free in life really. Rather than looking at hundreds of dating adverts which aren’t very descriptive, if you go to a proper dating site which is monitored, you can view profiles of serious daters and actually get somewhere with your love life, instead of wasting time.

Problem #3: Spam And Time Wasters!

Even though free singles dating sites are not monitored in the same way that proper dating sites are, the website is still crawled for explicit content and spamming. Unfortunately, you will still come across it. And, every time you respond to an advert that you think is a genuine dater, you could be giving out your details to yet another spam company. Yes, that means more Viagra emails straight to your inbox. Unless you’ve already subscribed to those already!

If you’ve managed to get your crush to agree to go out with you one night, or you‘re taking your partner out for a special occasion, then you’re sure going to want some romantic first date ideas. Now, this depends largely on what your crush thinks is romantic. Some people think a carefully made picnic in a specially chosen location would be very romantic, but unfortunately, some dates might think it is just a cheap option! Here are some ideas that are doubtlessly very romantic!

1: Buy A Special Gift

If you know our date has wanted something particular for a long time, then buy it and surprise your date by presenting it to them in a nice location. This could be a fancy restaurant, or in a special place you share.

	2: Take The Lead

Don’t tell your partner where you’re going and plan a wonderful day or evening full of things they enjoy. This could be a trip to the beach, or a visit to your favourite romantic hideaway. Or it might be a day indoors with candles, movies and massage oil!

	3: Leave Clues!

You’ll have to plan carefully for this one! Leave one clue leading to another, leading to another. The clues could end up leading to where you are that evening, where you’ll surprise your date! It’ll show that you’ve put time and effort into doing something for your partner, which they’ll think is utterly adorable!

	4: Be Original.

Take them on a balloon ride. Book a river boat trip. Send flowers or chocolates to their workplace. Prepare their favourite meal.

	5: Do Something Creative.

Pick the songs which mean the most to you both, and put them all onto CD. Draw or paint a picture. Write her a song. Use whatever your talent is – or even if you don’t have a talent, just have a go!

Dating when you’re at high school can be a dream or a nightmare! To avoid embarrassment, hurt and humiliation, we’ve got a few tips to help keep you top of the pile and evade any difficult situations.

	1. Keep it to yourself unless you want everyone to know.

It sounds cynical, but if you’re going to attempt any romantic gestures to ensnare your crush, be aware that they could – if they were mean – show these things to others around your high school. If you write a heart felt love letter, or record yourself singing a love song for them, and they don’t reciprocate the feelings then that letter or MP3 could find itself around the entire campus within hours.

	2. Keep it light hearted.

If you start lusting over someone who doesn’t feel the same way about you, then you are guaranteed to heading to a dark place. If you still fancy someone after they have rejected you, try to keep it as low key as possible, or else you will be ridiculed. Plus, the object of your affection might not actually WANT you to know his timetable inside out and turn up outside their every class…

	3. Realise that love can happen many times in life.

Your high school sweet heart may seem like the only person you could ever love right now, but in years to come you may look back on your college life and think you took it too seriously. Love can happen many times in your life as long as you are open to it happening.

	4. Try group dates.

Double dating can be a good laugh, and takes the pressure off of you being alone with your crush. Go for pizza, catch a movie or hold a small house party (if you’re allowed!)

When the excitement of initial dating wears off, it is up to you and your partner to maintain your relationship and make sure that you still enjoy it. You have to put oil in your car and vacuum the carpet, and you have to take care of your relationship to make sure it stays in good condition too! Here are our favourite ways to inject a bit of passion back into a stale affair!

	1. Surprise each other!

Send small gifts, or plan a special evening. If you’re feeling extravagant, then a weekend away is the perfect way to rekindle romance.

	2. Break the routine.

Instead of watching the same TV programmes whilst you eat your dinner, why not try mixing things up? Go for a game of squash, or a long walk, or take up an evening class together.

3. Tell each other how you feel.

Write each other a letter describing how the other one makes you feel. Be honest. Tell each other what turns you on or what you love about each other.

	4. Plan a special day together.

Whether it’s at the weekend or in a month’s time, plan a perfect day together. Maybe a picnic, a day at the zoo, a visit into your city, or a day indoors with a pile of movies and popcorn.

	5. Retell the times when you first met.

Talking about the times when you first started dating can reignite those flames of excitement and adoration. Recount how you felt and where you went and what you thought. Look at photos from when you first dated and laugh at the memories you have together!

	6. Appreciate each other.

Say thank you for those little things that you do for each other which you normally forget. Think about how you would feel if your partner wasn’t around and remember all the things they help you with.

When you’ve been in a relationship for a while, it is not unreasonable to want to ask them certain questions, or to want to know more about their past, or their feelings towards your future together as a couple. But what are suitable relationship questions to ask your lover? Obviously, you don’t want to overstep the boundaries, or appear to be rude or unsympathetic towards your lover. We did our research and compiled the best relationship questions to ask your lover! Remember, you have a right to know where your relationship is going, so don’t be afraid to ask.

	About Your Future Together

Where do you see yourself in five years time?
If I needed to move to a different area for work, would you consider coming with me?
Do you ever intend to have children?
What do you imagine doing with your time when you retire?
Do you always want to live on your own / with housemates?

On How They Feel About You

Have your feelings changed since we first met?
Are you still excited when we go on a date?
Would you consider this a serious relationship?
How would you feel about me meeting your parents?
Would you like to meet my family?

On Sex

What is your favourite position in bed?
What is your fantasy?
What is the naughtiest thing you have ever done?
How often would you, ideally, want to have sex?
Have you ever had any embarrassing sexual situations?

You won’t get anywhere with internet dating unless you have a decent online profile. Whether its some the great totally free internet dating sites or a subscription service, first impressions do count, and in the internet dating world, it’s your online profile which gives that all important initial image. So what are the most important things you should include in your profile for it to be a successful representation of you? We’ve got the answers!

	1. Include important details.
Key details include your age, location and job. These are important factors that will define whether someone wants to date you. If you lie about them or don’t include them in your profile, then you could just be wasting potential daters’ time, as well as your own!

	2. Use a recent photo.
Looks are not the be all and end all, but they are important. Most people like to know who they are talking to, and will want to see what you look like. Again, if you’re honest from the beginning, then you won’t be wasting anyone’s time. Imagine meeting up with someone you thought looked a certain way, but when you met it transpired that they actually looked a lot different. You might be disappointed, and you might feel that the person had lied to you.

	3. Explain your interests and hobbies.
Ideally, you want to write a three or four paragraphs about yourself that define your life, hobbies, job and priorities. Talk about what you enjoy doing and why. Write about what you do at the weekend and places you like to go. Try to cram in as much information about yourself as possible, but without rambling on.

	4. Do NOT moan!
You see some online profiles which rant about how people are unfair, judgmental or fake. None of this is attractive or will get any positive responses. Be light hearted, and people will warm to you.

	5. Don’t expect too much.
You’re looking for the right person, not the first person that comes along. Don’t get disheartened if your profile hasn’t grabbed anyone’s attention yet. The right person might not have found you yet. Stay positive and keep looking!

As a teenager hoping to get onto the dating scene, we know you feel daunted, a bit nervous and very excited! There’s lots of teenage dating advice out there, but we’ve made a comprehensive guide on all the important information you need to know. Some teenage dating advice assumes that you are still a child, and some teenage dating advice assumes that you are an adult, but we’ve got the real tips that you need!

Tip 1: Don’t rush into it.
As a teenager, you probably want to start to experience what it’s like to date, but you might not be ready to fall in love or have a serious relationship.

Tip 2: Think about what you want from dating.
Do you just want to spend some time with the opposite gender? Or are you looking for someone you can be close to? Or are you just interested in experiencing the physical side of dating? Whatever you feel ready for, make sure your partner is on a similar level and wants the same thing as you do.

	Tip 3: Enjoy it!
Don’t worry about if a date goes horribly wrong, or if your crush rejects you. This is your time for learning about dating and seeing what it’s like from both sides. Don’t get hung up on the fact that they don’t call you or aren’t interested in you – just move on and enjoy it.

Tip 4: Realise that everyone is different.
Whilst your friends might be dating, you might not feel ready for it. If you’re not sure, then just say no. You’ll know when it feels right and when you want to do it. Statistics show that many people don’t become active daters until their early twenties.

	Tip 5: Be confident.
If you want to ask someone out, then ask them! If you want to kiss them, then ask them. If you don’t want to, then you should also be confident to say no. Whether you want to do something or you don’t, be confident, be assertive.

When you start dating someone, you are bound to have heaps of questions you want to ask them, so that you get to know them better. Instead of asking the usual boring questions though, how about you make it a fun game by asking the questions in a different way? Here’s some ideas to get you started!

	1. Questions about family.
Instead of asking “How many brothers and sisters do you have? What do you parents do? What was your first pet?” try asking some of these questions:
- What was the naughtiest or funniest thing you ever did with your siblings?
- Did you ever have to go to work with your parents for the day? What was it like?
- What was the craziest pet you ever owned?

2. Questions about work.
Instead of asking “What job do you do? How long have you done it? Do you enjoy it?” try asking some of these questions:
- What job did you want to do when you were younger?
- What’s your favourite / least favourite aspect of your current job?
- If you could change three things about your boss, what would they be?

	3. Questions about hobbies.
Avoid boring questions such as “What team do you support? Do you go to the gym? What is your favourite movie?” and instead ask something along the lines of:
- What would be your ideal way of keeping fit?
- If you made a movie, what would it be about and who would be in it?
- If you had a whole month free off work and studying, how would you spend each day?!
